Animal control put our pit bull to sleep while he had a case pending. They didn't notify us before they did it. We went to visit him and found out by the shelter. Please help us. We need advice on what we could or should do. We appreciate any and all responses.

Thanks!R.I.P. Turk

we are so sorry to hear about your lose. it does happen a lot and its not right!! the only thing i could tell you is if you had the money sue them. it will be a long drawn out process but if your dog was innocent of the charges against him then it will be worth it in the end

I am sorry to hear that. I do not know much about this site, but this starving pitt bull terrior, beautiful, white with a black patch over its eye, came up to me. I could not let him starve. I got him his shots, we fell in love with him but I had a blue heeler, female who is very sweet, she has been my dog. Today Lucious our pitt tore into Daisha while she was eatting her bone. I was scared silly. He is less than a year old. Where can I take him without fearing someone will use him to fight or worse, if I take him to the humane society, they are putting down dogs every 3 days. He would make such a great dog if he were the only dog, but I am not getting rid of my blue heeler for a new dog. Do you have any advise, my daughter and I both love this new dog but I cannot have this happen again. I told my daughter if he attacks daisha one time he is out... and that happened tonight. Thanks, lori_belle2@yahoo.com

More and More of this is happening. They are gulity till proven inocent then it is to late. Shelters are so full they would rather pass there own judgement then wait for the courts becuase of the rap our poor breed has been given. PItbullmom is right though as long has everything was dropped you have a case but if not I am so sorry. It is a terrible thing these shelters are doing and they need to be held accountable. Our hearts go out to you!

I am so sorry to hear that. This is not the first time this has happened I am hearing this alot.  it is agains the law to do this.  You can go to the state Rep.  What was the end result of the case or is it still pending.  If is the end and charges where droped you can ge a good settlement nothing will bring him back. The only other thing if the dog was charged and the judge was going to put him down anyway there is nothing you can do.
